PHP Services

People Helping People (PHP) -

People Helping People is dedicated to improving the lives of men, women and children in the Santa Ynez Valley, Los Alamos, and surrounding communities by addressing emergency and basic needs, furnishing comprehensive integrated family and individual support services, and acting as a catalyst for positive community change.

PHP services are available at our Service Center for seniors and other adults without school-age children, and at five separate Family Resource Center sites at local school campuses: Jonata Middle School (Buellton), Santa Ynez Elementary School, Santa Ynez High School, Solvang Elementary School, and Olga Reed School (Los Alamos). Most Centers are staffed on a part-time basis. The local FRCs reduce barriers to seeking help by making it easy for students and parents to access PHP staff and services.

Programs and services are organized into four major categories:

Basic Needs – Food Distribution, Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing, Utility and Transportation assistance, and clothing and houseware vouchers

Health Care – Community Healthcare Access, Children’s and Adult Dental Funds, Mental Health Counseling and Wellness, and Insurance Enrollment

Children and Youth – Los Alamos Afterschool Program, Youth Coalition (Drug Free Youth), High School Mentoring, Generation Kindness and Drug Free Clubs, Student Life Skills Education (Drug Abuse Prevention)

Family & Individual Support – domestic Violence Prevention, Child Abuse Prevention, Parent Education, Advocacy, Family and Individual Strengthening, and Christmas Fulfill-A-Wish

PHP’s Thrift Store has been Named “Best in Valley” by Valley News for the 5th Straight Year. Thriftology is open seven days a week and all of the proceeds directly benefit People Helping People’s clients or helps to fund programs and services.
